Hello! Welcome back to my blog! One of the things I always love about photographing weddings is all the little details that the bride and groom spend so much time carefully planning. You can see the love and effort they have put into their special day and it was not any different for Joanne and Lachlan’s wedding either!
The wedding ceremony was held at St Mary's Catholic Church in North Adelaide and the reception was at Glen Ewin Estate. Joanne and Lachlan danced to their first song Boyce Avenue- Just The Way You Are; which was played by DJ Billy (Adelaide DJ Services).
Joanne had some wonderful advice for other couples planning their wedding:
Wedding planning can be stressful, but it doesn't have to be. Discuss with husband/wife-to-be what both of you truly want for your wedding day and plan it to be just that. Especially in this age of Pinterest and Instagram, it can be easy to get carried away with having the biggest/ most perfect/ best wedding that the true meaning of the day- marriage, love, commitment- gets pushed to the back!
A few more people that helped their wedding go off without a hitch:
Cake Maker: Liz Wickers; Takes the Cake
Wedding Planner: The lovely bride & groom! : )
Wedding Dress Designer: Vera Wang (for all three dresses)
Florist: Kyla Helgeson; White Orchid Floral Design
Cars: Pro Street Weddings
Joanne had 3 Vera Wang dresses for her wedding day. Each one, simply beautiful! In the Bride's words: I had always wanted a Vera Wang dress for my wedding day; there is something magical, whimsical but sophisticated about the dresses she designs. I first saw my dress (or dresses) online and knew that it was my dress. It had all the qualities I was looking for- classic, elegant and restrained ballgown-drama. It just happened that my MC was in the US at the time so she purchased it and Fed-exed it back home!
Joanne and Lachlan actually met at the Adelaide Uni Medical School Level 5 photocopier! Their mutual friends during their Honours year at the University of Adelaide then brought them closer together. Oddly enough, they had completed the same subjects for their undergrad degrees (Bachelor of Science) but had never met! Yet here they are back at the very same photocopier 4 years later!
"Liz Wickers from Takes the Cake was amazing- she constructed our dream cake based on a few pictures, and not only did the cake look great but also tasted so delicious. We had a number of guests comment that the cake was delicious, which was a shock to them as wedding cakes can sometimes not be as tasty as they look."
